5 Time management tips to help set up your day

Time management is something everyone strives to improve. We all have the same 24-hour period, but what we do with that available time is down to each individual. And, depending on how good you are at managing your time, that can be a good or bad thing!

So if you’re looking to get your day off to a good start by managing your time better, you’ll want to follow these simple five time management tips.

#1: Plan your day before you start it

Before you turn on your computer, sit and plan out your day ahead. This helps you see what you can realistically achieve in your available time, as well as helping you get in the right mindset for work. Take a couple of minutes to visualise the day ahead going well, as you mentally work through what you have planned for the day ahead.

#2: Have a morning routine; it will do wonders for your time management!

Whether you have a full-on ritual you follow, or whether your morning routine is quite simple, you need a routine. Having a morning routine helps get you in the right space for work, and it will also make it easier for you to attach new, better habits to your existing routine.

Take a look at Hal Elrod’s The Miracle Morning website for details of his fast start kit and his bestselling book on the subject – as they’re both incredibly popular resources to help you set up a morning routine that works for you.

#3: Get a few quick wins under your belt

One of the first things you want to do, once you start work for the day, is to get some wins under your belt. Having a couple of fast results will help motivate you to tackle the bigger things on your list. So set aside your first 10-20 minutes in your day to do those small tasks that can be completed in a couple of minutes – but allow you to tick something off your list.

#4: Block off time throughout your day

You initially planned your day ahead, but take time to block off time throughout your day too. This is for those bigger tasks that need dedicated, focused time to work on them. This includes blocking off time for revenue-generating activities, a specific project, or content creation time for you to work on your own marketing materials.

#5: Top time management tip – delegate tasks out to a Virtual Assistant

One of the simplest time management tips I can give you is to start delegating. Look to simplify your workload, by handing tasks over to other people. For most businesses, this means delegating tasks to a Virtual Assistant. Why? Because it is one of the most cost-effective ways of getting help.

There’s a high chance that a Virtual Assistant will not only get the task completed faster, but they’ll also complete it to a higher standard. Just make sure you hire the right person for your needs. To help you with this, take a look at this recent blog on the red flags to watch for when hiring a VA.

What you do with your time at the beginning of your working day will have a big impact on how your day runs. By following the above time management tips, you’ll be able to get your day off to a good start – and increasing the likelihood of it ending well too!
